Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

The Controller is a critical strategic and operational leadership role that oversees the archdiocese’s accounting, budgeting and financial reporting environments. This role ensures the integrity of our financial information, strengthens the stewardship of temporal goods, delivers accurate and timely reporting, and provides team leadership and mentorship. The Controller oversees core accounting operations, leads the monthly and annual close, manages audit and compliance activities, interacts with the Archdiocesan Finance Council, and partners with senior leadership to ensure financial transparency, donor accountability, and long-term sustainability – all in support of our Catholic mission.

Job Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Close Management

* Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger integrity, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.

* Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to GAAP and Archdiocesan policies.

* Maintain a disciplined reconciliation framework, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and reviewed on a defined cadence.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

* Prepare timely, accurate internal and external financial statements, including footnotes and supplemental schedules, that support the organization and its many missions.

* Ensure proper accounting, tracking, and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds in alignment with donor intent, grant agreements, and canonical requirements.
