Job Description
Job Summary
Foresight CPAs is hiring a Director of Financial Accounting to lead our financial statement, assurance, and advisory practice. This is a remote, full-time position reporting directly to the firm owner, with the bookkeeping manager reporting to you.
Foresight CPAs is a full-service accounting and advisory firm based in Boca Raton, FL, serving growing businesses across S corporations, partnerships, real estate entities, and nonprofits. We provide tax, compliance, bookkeeping, compilation and review engagements, and CFO advisory. We are enrolled in the AICPA Peer Review Program and use AI tools as part of our everyday workflow.
We are looking for a GAAP expert who has led audit and review engagements from planning through report issuance, and who has led peer reviews. You will be the firm's technical authority on financial reporting and quality control. You will also own the financial accounting side of the firm: outsourced CFO engagements, supporting clients through their audits, buy-side due diligence and quality of earnings work, and the quality of our bookkeeping team's output.
What you'll do
Technical leadership, quality control, and peer review
- Serve as the firm's GAAP and SSARS technical expert, researching complex issues and writing position memos
- Lead review and compilation engagements end to end, including planning, analytical procedures, inquiries, financial statements, disclosures, and reports
- Own the firm's system of quality management and keep every engagement file peer-review ready
- Lead the firm through its AICPA peer review, including preparation, responding to the reviewer, and remediating findings
- Perform engagement quality reviews on financial statement work before release
Client audit support
- Prepare clients for financial statement audits by outside CPA firms, lenders, and investors
- Build audit-ready trial balances, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules, and manage PBC requests
- Research and apply GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), and accrual conversions
- Act as the main point of contact with the client's auditors through fieldwork and closing
Bookkeeping quality and financial statements
- Oversee the bookkeeping team through the bookkeeping manager, who runs day-to-day work for in-house and offshore staff
- Set month-end close standards, review checklists, and reconciliation requirements, and hold the team to them
- Review client books by exception so errors are caught before they reach the tax team or the client
Firm leadership
- Help build the firm's financial accounting practice, including pricing, scoping, and engagement letters
- Train and mentor staff and help develop our AI-assisted workflows and playbooks
- Track engagements against budget and help keep realization healthy
Growth areas you'll oversee: CFO advisory and due diligence
These service lines are part of the practice you will lead. Prior experience is preferred but not required, and a strong GAAP and assurance background is the foundation for both.
- Oversee outsourced CFO and controller engagements, including monthly financial packages, KPIs, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models
- Oversee buy-side financial due diligence and quality of earnings (QOE) engagements, including normalized EBITDA, net working capital, and debt-like items
- Help grow both service lines as the practice scales
What we're looking for
Required
- Active CPA license
- Track record of leading audit and review engagements as the in-charge, manager, or engagement partner, from planning through report issuance (8+ years of public accounting experience)
- Hands-on peer review experience, such as serving as a peer reviewer or team captain, or leading a firm's peer review as its quality control lead
- Expert-level knowledge of US GAAP, SSARS, and AICPA quality management standards, including preparing full financial statements with disclosures
- Experience supervising and reviewing the work of staff accountants or bookkeepers
- Clear written and verbal communication with business owners, lenders, and outside auditors
- Comfortable working remotely and managing multiple engagements against deadlines and budgets
Preferred
- CFO, controller, or outsourced advisory experience (not required, but preferred, since you will oversee our CFO engagements)
- Financial due diligence or quality of earnings experience (not required, but preferred, since you will oversee our transaction work)
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Excel (advanced), and practice management software such as Canopy
- Interest in using AI tools to speed up review and analysis work
Why join Foresight CPAs
- Fully remote, with a direct line to the firm owner
- A leadership seat building a practice area, not maintaining one
- Varied work across CFO advisory, audit support, transactions, and financial reporting
- A firm that invests in AI tools and clear processes so your time goes to judgment, not data entry
Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
Benefits
- 401(k)
- 401(k) matching
- Dental insurance
