Who We Are

As seen in *The Washington Post*, Grassroots Comedy (GC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is passionate about two things: comedy and making the world a better place. We do this by producing regular (mostly monthly, but sometimes bi-weekly) cause-tailored comedy shows to engage audiences with progressive, mission-driven organizations, as well as workshops that train people how to create and scale comedy for real social impact. Our mission is to make humans laugh while improving humanity.

Who You Are

GC seeks Finance Coordinator to ensure we maintain accurate financial records and a clear understanding of our assets, liabilities, expenses, and revenue. The person in this role will help strengthen our financial systems, policies, and reporting processes while supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

The ideal candidate is a finance, bookkeeping, or accounting professional looking for a long-term part-time role with flexibility and meaningful impact. We are looking for someone excited about the opportunity to integrate into a quickly growing organization and play a major role in its financial health and sustainability.

We envision this role focusing heavily on bookkeeping during the first several months (approximately a 70/30 bookkeeping-to-accounting split), then gradually transitioning toward broader accounting and financial responsibilities over time (closer to a 50/50 split).

Job Summary

This position reports to the Executive Director and will support most of Grassroots Comedy’s day-to-day financial operations. Responsibilities include general ledger maintenance, month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting support, grant-related financial tracking, and other accounting projects such as annual tax filing support as needed.
